This Crossover Series Bundle comes with the Double Burner Firebox, powered by 2 x 15,000 BTU burners and works as a stand alone stove, and the Grill and Griddle Tops.   All 3 are made with 304 brushed stainless steel and cast aluminum components. The non-corrosive, cast aluminum base on the Grill and Griddle Top prevents heat distortion to maintain a perfect fit with the Firebox.  The Grill includes a unique diffuser plate to provide even heat across the entire cooking surface, funnels grease away from the burner into the Firebox grease containment system, and helps maintain temperature and control smoke. The lid includes a thermometer and locks into place for easy transport. The Griddle top is coated with a non-stick surface and includes a diffuser plate to provide even heat across the entire cooking surface. The perfect outdoor kitchen combo for the foodie enthusiast to take on the road in the RV, wherever the adventure leads or for set up in a smaller backyard.
Looks great, but low BTU output for the surface area
The Crossover double burner only has 15,000 BTUs per burner, for a 16x16 surface area. That size translates to a total of 256 square inches of cooking area. Any reputable grill guide indicates that optimal cooking energy is 75 to 100 BTUs per square inch. Using the lowest level of that guidance, the Magma should have a minimum BTU burner output of 19,200. Using my Magma for the first time this week, I was trying to sear a flatiron steak on the steel griddle. It was windy and about 60 degrees outside, which would reduce performance, but not to zero. It took far to long to pre-heat, and the grill never came up to proper temp.
It is beautiful looking gear, and the build is competent and solid, it just doesn't perform as advertised.
