Replacement went out next day;
I purchased a replacement lid for my nesting magma pots set and was happy to see the design change (the handle on my previous lid for the stock pot broke from the solder point).
The new design is sleek with 100% stainless steel; however, it has one flaw—the handle does not have any material on it for protection against heat—it’s just straight conducting material.
I can somewhat appreciate this change.
Here’s why: The previous lid design included a plastic ring at the base of the handle (which broke away over time & turns out it was pretty useless anyway), and the handle itself was wrapped with a plastic grip. That grip allowed you to grab the lid off a pot without needing to reach for a towel or pot holder.
On the new design, you MUST grab for a barrier before lifting the lid. If not, you’ll run the risk of burning yourself. Trust me on this one. Small design flaw in my opinion, but hoping this time since there’s not a bunch of plastic the lid handle won’t detach as easily from the soldering point.
Overall, since there are so many pros to the magma pots system for my application, I don’t think this minor detail will prevent me from rolling with them in my van kitchen. :) Plus, having some cute pot holders isn’t the worst thing in the world!
The knob came off my lid! Looked like it had been spot-welded on, and the weld failed. But I contacted the company and they promptly replaced it. Thanks Magma!
