Chefs Mate Gas Grill

We purchased the Chefs Mate Grill. We are thoroughly enjoying the bbq. It is a perfect addition to our boat. It was easy to install and remove. We have enjoyed multiple meals. It is easy to use, cooks evenly and the clean up is quick.

Grille Cooks Great!

I just used my grille for the first time. Burgers, dogs, Filet, even onions and french fries made there way to the grille. All came out great. One criticism, the cutting board hanging on the front got hot and started to warp. I caught it quickly and removed it. It did recover its original shape on its own. This may be a design flaw to have a cutting board made of plastic that close to the grille. Otherwise everything went great!

Long Time User

I have been using this grill for over five years and deserves a good long review. lol - big fan here. My first impression is the simplicity. There aren't many parts and super easy to take down an clean. Less parts means less things to break and clean. We make the standard burgers and hotdogs on the boat. Sometimes we elevate our cooking with fresh grilled lobster. We've made anything you can grill on land. pizzas, shrimp, scallops on half shell, chicken wings, steak sliders, fajitas, bacon, eggs, coffee, toast and of course fish. I take this grill everywhere. Camping, Keys Vacations, tailgates and Bahamas trips. We use the rod mount and legs. I have the big carry bag, more on that later. My grill does get hot and discolored from the heat. Often flares with greasy meat. The instructions warn of this and this is my fault, but I am not sure how to prevent it. This doesn't really bother me. Anyways, I don't mind the "patina" from all the great meals and grill beers. Couple of tips. When using the rod holder it is key to "level" the grill. Otherwise the gas (flames) will be hotter on the high side versus the low side. Front to back and side to side. Sounds like common sense eh? I haven't noticed the effect of the boat rocking, but I do notice when I have the grill tilted. I live in SFLA so we get lots of wind. Sometimes we have to place the grill on the deck with the legs.
